Catherine Schultz Gonzales

We are celebrating the life of Catherine "Cathie" Schultz Gonzales. She was born August 20, 1956 in Spokane Washington, the youngest child of Jack and Clara Schultz. Cathie passed away October 18th, 2022 in Grand Junction Colorado, the beloved wife of Albino Gonzales.

Cathie is survived by her husband Albino, her brother John Edward Schultz, Jr, her sister Pamela Kay Brodersen and 5 children she lovingly gained through marriage. The children are as follows: Ximena Gonzales, Ariella Gonzales-Vondy, Marina Lancheros, Arias Gonzales, and Ismael Gonzales. In addition, Cathie has 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Cathie and Albino were married November 20th, 1993. They were blessed to have 29 devoted years of marriage together.

Cathie was an adventurous soul. After graduating from University of California, Irvine in 1978 she traveled to Europe, backpacking with friends having the adventure of a lifetime. When she returned, she began teaching high school in Orange County, California and preparing for her next calling in life as a missionary going to Lesotho and South Africa. Cathie devoted 2 years teaching children in Lesotho English and how to love God. When she returned to Orange County, California she began a teaching career at Santiago high school in Garden Grove, California and pursued a master's degree in Media and Curriculum at Cal State University Long Beach.

In 1990 Cathie decided to move to Grand Junction, Colorado taking a teaching job at Central High School in Grand Junction. It was there this new adventure began where she met her future husband and the love of her life, Albino Gonzales.

Together Cathie and Albino enjoyed life as a couple and the time spent with children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They built a home in Glade Park living the best years of their life on the mountain above Grand Junction.

I am extremely sorry to hear the news of Cathie's passing. Not only was she my friend in high school, but at U.C. Irvine as well. In my after-college years, I was part of a writing group that met at her house. I had just been thinking of her yesterday. I am glad for the full and happy life she created, and for everyone whose life was made just that much better for her having been in it. I was just thinking of her yesterday.

I am very sad to hear about Cathie's passing. She was such a nice person and I remember her fondly from our school days. I am happy to read that she had a full life with many people who loved her.

I don't remember her, but what a nice testimony she has. Thanks for sharing all that.
