I am truly devastated & extremely saddened learning of Mikes passing. 💔 We both attended Arthur D. Nieblas elementary school together. He was the kindness sweetest soul ever. I never would of thought that seeing Mike @ the 45th Reunion would be my last. God Grace be with you Mike❤️ Gracie Contreras Rolf

I am in shock.  Mike was a friend since we were in the 6th grade.  Although our contact was sporadic, when we did get together it was as if no time had passed (even though we might not have looked the same!).  I had a great visit with Mike at the reunion and had no sense that it would be the last time I would see him.   He was a great friend and will be missed by many.  Rest In Peace my friend.  Rick Reid

This is truly sad and shocking news! It was sooo good to spend time with Mike at the reunion! Here's a picture we took that night! Mike, Chris Bent, Lucky Jonker and myself. He was a fine man and glad to have seen him that night. I'll be praying for him and his family! Rest in Peace Mike!

After running into Mike Lucia at my local Elks lodge on New years Eve Mike mentioned that Mike Lear had crossed over.

I had the pleasure of dating Mike Lear in my Senior year and we got to renew a kinship at a former reunion as well.

When I think of Mike I have nothing but nice memories.

Mike was kind and caring man. Who also had a fun sense of humor.

He will missed not only by me but I expect by many more.

I am truly saddened to hear about Mike Lear's passing.

As did Gracie, I attended Athur D. Nieblas Elementary School with Mike.

Mike could catch a football better than anyone else at school.  I, on the other hand, couldn't catch one tossed to me from two feet away.  I could throw one, and did fairly well at baseball and basketball, but not catching a football.  One day, during seventh grade,  after Mike saw me being ridiculed by another student he came up to me and said for me to meet him after school and he'd help me learn to catch footballs.  He actually spent a few days helping me.  I improved quite a bit, but was no where near as good as him.

I remember in fall of 1973, the first time Fountain Valley beat Edison, Mike caught a couple critical passes.  I don't remember much else about the game, but I sure was glad to see Mike do so well.
